Bike Program

The Optimist's recycle and repair bicycles and give them to those in need. We accept donations from various organizations including the Lakewood Police Department and Colorado University-Boulder. To arrange to donate bikes go to the "Contact Us" page and click the link on Bike Donations.

Bike sent to Haiti

One of many loads of bikes bound for Haiti

In a cooperative effort with Rev. Thomas from St. Matthews Baptist Church in Aurora, Co the Golden Optimists repaired and provided bike to send to earthquake stricken Haiti. The donation is part of a 48 foot container being sent to help those in need. This will help provide better transportation in an area where the damage would make most vehicle travel impossible.

Many of these bikes came from the "Day of Service" program from Mitchell Elementary School in Golden. A special thanks to the school, administrators, teachers, students, and parents who helped make this program a success.
